A special message from your beloved author:
I remember the delight of finding out there was a gigantic Target being built on Sunset and Western, a stone’s throw from my childhood home in Los Angeles. I imagined it would become my new daily haunt. Flashforward more than a decade, and the construction is still incomplete, due to legal complications.
Since then, I graduated college and moved to Cleveland, Ohio. As of the publication date of this video, the Target is still under construction. The legal backstory is kind of kooky if you care to look it up, but the Cliffs Notes version is that a distant city I had never heard of prior to my research, had filed a lawsuit against Los Angeles for permitting Target to build a structure that exceeded the height of the outstanding building code. The city that sued Los Angeles is called La Mirada; I asked my sister about it, and she said La Mirada is a city “filled with a bunch of wealthy people.” Figures.
Sometimes I wonder what could’ve been, spending my young adulthood flipping through video game magazines, snacking on candy bars, sipping Frappuccinos, browsing the toy aisle… if only it had not been for the wealthy people of La Mirada.
Anyway, this is an iPhone 6S vlog of my wacky family’s visit to Target on SOM Center Road in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Of course, I spent most of my time exploring the toy department, which is the closest feeling I get to browsing the now-defunct Toys R Us.
As always, thanks for watching and commenting!
